Dr. Ray received his PhD in Systems Neuroscience from National Brain Research Centre (India) under supervision of Prof. Aditya Murthy. Previously he earned a Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Calcutta University (India). His post-doctoral training was with Prof. Jeff D Schall at Vanderbilt University, Dr. Stephen J Heinen at The Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, and Dr. Robert M McPeek at State University of New York, all in USA.
His research team studies neuroscience of decision making, sequential eye movements, attention, and executive control, using three complementary techniques: human behaviour, electrophysiology, and computational models. His lab records gaze location, pupil area, reach location, and EEG activity in real time from human participants. The long-term scientific goal of his lab is to understand neural mechanisms underlying different cognitive processes engaged in control of coordinated movements of the eyes and hand.
Dr. Ray is currently affiliated with Ashoka University (Dept. of Psychology)
| Assistant Professor (2013 - 2022) and Wellcome Trust DBT Intermediate Fellow (2014 - 2019)
